How To Avoid Overwhelm When You’re Trying To Learn It All

How To Avoid Overwhelm When You're Trying To Learn It All!

Hosting and WordPress and Plugins, oh my!

To say that starting an online business can be overwhelming is probably the understatement of the century!

There's so much to learn, and as soon as you finally learn it, you're behind on the new stuff that's just come out.

Welcome to the wonderful world of technology!

I wanted to work from home because I thought it would be easy.

I think we've all thought that working for yourself would be a walk in the park. It's not.

It's more like a jog (ugh, I hate jogging!), through a swampy mess, that smells, with bugs flying around your head, that you push your way through because you're pretty sure that's a sunny beach you see in the distance.

It takes a special kind of person to wade through the shit to get to the rainbow, so the fact that you've already jumped in with both feet shows that you're made of the right stuff to make it all the way!

How To Avoid Overwhelm When You're Trying To Learn It All

You're going to get stuck from time to time. We all get stuck.

If there is anyone that tries to tell you they never get stuck or feel overwhelmed, they're lying, and you should seriously reconsider who you're hanging out with!

You're probably thinking, "Great, so I'm not alone. But now that there's me and every other infopreneur hanging out in this disgusting swamp together, what's next?".

Well, first, let's get back to real world chatter (cause all this swamp talk is grossing me out!)...

There are a million and one systems that need to be in place for your business to run smoothly.

Your online presence is represented by how all these moving parts work together, and it's up to you to make them fit.

Websites, content creation, graphic design, email newsletters, social media...need I say more?

When you don't know where to start, each piece of the puzzle seems like it needs another in place before it will fit, and overwhelm starts to set in, fast.

First, there's something you need to realize - You'll never learn it all.

Sorry, but it's true.

Once you familiarize yourself with the basics, everything gets easier, but it will never be "done".

The good news is, you don't need to learn it all!

You don't need to know all the answers,
you just need to know where to find them!

This is what I've lived by that's allowed me to work full time from home for the last 5 years without completely losing my mind!

In other words, get to know your resources.

Don't fill your mind with useless info "just in case you might someday maybe need to fix something"!

We need that brain power to actually run our businesses, it's too important to waste on "what if"!

If you know where to find the answers (tools to use, what to read, places to ask, etc.), then you can feel at ease knowing that you can go there when you need it, and stop worrying about it!

You don't need to know all the answers, you just need to know where to find them!Click To Tweet

Such a RELIEF! 🙂 Thank you for this, Julia!

  2. I think I’m struggling with this. I’ve been doing so much research and reading (and when I say so much, I mean like any little chance I get to find out new information I’m on it) to find out what else I can do in order to help everything work better and get more followers and get more eyeballs, that my head is literally starting to hurt from it all. This definitely helped me kinda sit back and rest my shoulders. I just need to keep this in mind from time to time, because I am a very analytical person, and quite possibly a wee bit of a perfectionist on some things!
