Technology is terrifying!
Well, to most people. But they just don’t realize how easily and quickly things can be done with a little nudge in the right direction!
I hear so many people talking about other platforms like Blogger or WordPress.com as “for beginners”, but the self-hosted approach is not only just as easy to get started, but it’s yours!
Here’s the problem when you’re not self-hosted….
You don’t own your site!
I know you may think you do, it’s your content, your images, your blog…sorry honey, they can shut you down any time they want.
And that scares the freaking daylights outta me!
Essentially, you’re renting your website. Your content might live there, but it’s not your home.
Aside from the tech side of things, people can also be very hesitant about the costs associated with self-hosting…well do I have a treat for you!
Below you’ll find a step-by-step video tutorial I recorded for our Tank Members, walking you through:
♥ buying a domain
♥ setting up hosting
♥ installing wordpress on your domain
♥ installing a theme on your wordpress site
…and did I mention you can do all of that in about 5 minutes, start to finish?
Oh, but that’s not even the best part!
Follow the steps in the tutorial and you will get your domain, private registration, and a year of hosting for $25!
You’re welcome to explore other hosts, but in this tutorial I walk you through the signup process with GoDaddy because they’re the host I’ve used since I got started online in 2011.
I have several sites with them, no issues in the past 5 years (and counting!), and if I’ve ever gotten stuck with something, their customer service has been phenomenal!
There you have it!
Your own self-hosted WordPress website, set up in under 5 minutes, and for only $25 for the entire year!
